Casting a Vision

"Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained. But happy is he who keeps the law." With Proverbs 29:18 the backdrop, the men's Tuesday night Bible study kicked off Sept. 8 with a three-pronged plan that includes studying God's word, verse by verse; making disciples and living out God's word; and authentic community. "The men  of the Herd are characterized as faithful, hungry for God's word and are  extremely loyal men of God who love and are committed to one another," Allen McClinton told a group of more than 60 men who attend the launch event. "And now we ask where do we go from here form this awesome and godly foundation?"

McClinton, and the other men in the Bible study core leadership team, explained how the vision of the Bible study is tied to Venture's vision of reaching 1 million people beyond brick and mortar. Part of that includes "starting missional training and building into others the God we know," McClinton said.

As for the weekly process of the Bible study, McClinton and other leaders explained the process will work similarly to previous years. The evening will kick off with lesson time in the church's worship center, followed by a short break when men will head upstairs for fellowship and then small groups will meet in various rooms to review the week's discussion question, reflect on the lesson and share any praise/prayer requests. Discussion questions will be distributed each week at Bible study, as well as by table leaders and also will be available on this blog.

"Not much is changing on the surface," McClinton said. "But God always works from the inside out and together, as strong followers of Jesus Christ, we'll begin to transform the Bay Area."
