An Important Message From Senior Pastor Tim Lundy

Venture Friends and Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I bring you this sad news. While snowboarding with his family, Pastor Craig Jutila suffered a significant heart attack and passed away. This sudden and terrible news has stunned us all, and we are grieving with Craig’s family. Please keep his wife, Mary, as well as their kids, Alec, Cameron and Karimy in your prayers. Their loss is immeasurable and we want to surround them with love and prayer.

Craig’s leadership as Pastor of Family Ministries has made such a difference at Venture. His writing and speaking ministry to families has helped countless homes and lives around the world. Already stories of his impact are pouring in. He will be missed as a pastor, leader and teacher, but most of all, as our friend. This news is so hard to believe, as just a couple of days ago he was hosting all our Christmas services. Now he is gone.

The Apostle Paul writes in I Thessalonians 4:13-14,

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

As Christians, we grieve over the deaths of those we love, as it is the only right response. But we grieve with hope … hope in Christ. Craig lived his life so that others could know Jesus. We know that he is now in the presence of his Savior.

In our services this weekend, we will grieve together as a church and worship the One who gives us hope. Our prayer teams and grief counselors will be available for anyone who needs them.

Craig’s Celebration of Life will be Monday, December 31 at 2pm in the Worship Center.

As we have more information, we will share it with you including any ways the family may need assistance. Please watch this webpage for more details and updates. Until then, your continued prayers for the Jutila family are needed and appreciated. God will see them through this, but there will be hard days ahead.

With sadness,
Tim Lundy
