Paceline Adventure - Photo Scavenger Hunt

  • Corner of Lincoln Ave and Willow St. (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Paceline Adventure is where all the links of Paceline can come together and enjoy a day of fun. The actual riding is minimal (all different kind of bikes and all different kind of people are welcomed including any runners and walkers) and more focused on fun filled activity to grow friendship and community. We will repeating a PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT ride along with the Viva Calle SJ event on Sunday, September 18, 2016.

Viva Calle SJ is a San Jose City event where a designated (6 mile) route will be closed off to car traffic and available for runners, bikers, walkers, etc to take the streets. There will be various festivities (musical, exercise groups, food, crafts, etc) happening all day at Viva Calle SJ as well as mobile feast trucks all around. Checkout their website!

Paceline will be meeting up on Lincoln Ave in Willow Glen at corner of Willow St at designated 9:30am (there is a big water fountain there). At this time, we will hand out the Scavenger Hunt List and break-up into teams. We will go over the rules for our hunt and layout some logistics for the event. Once we are in teams and everyone understands the rules, each team will have about 2 hours starting from 10am to ride bikes, run, or walk along the Viva Calle SJ route. After ~2 hours, we will meet back at the corner of Lincoln Ave and Willow St. to have lunch together and hand out awards. After that, you are free to continue to enjoy the festival or head back to your cars.

Paceline Road Ride – Eastside Roll

Route: Eastside Roll (~24 miles)

Meet at the corner of Alum Rock Ave and Mt Hamilton Rd at 7:30am. All parking is on street (see route map link). Expect to be on the bike leaving by 8am.

RIDE INFO:

We will begin at the corner of Alum Rock Ave and Mt Hamilton Road and then descent down to McKee Rd (right). From McKee Rd, we turn right on Toyon and then left on Penitencia Creek Rd. Then make right on White Rd ( which will turn into Piedmont) for about 6 miles. Then continue on Evans Rd eventually with a right on N. Park Victoria. Continue on N. Park Victoria until we reach Scott Rd which will be the turn around point (1st regroup point). We will follow back N. Park Victoria back which will turn into Morrill Ave. About mile 14.3, we will make left on Berryessa Rd with a right on Piedmont and then a left on Penitencia Creek Rd. About a 0.25 miles up the road, we will enter Alum Rock Park (2nd Regroup point) and follow road in park to a service road where we will climb back out of the park. Once outside of the Alum Rock Park, we will make a left on Crothers Rd and continue the climb (3rd Regroup). We will follow Crothers Rd all the way to Mt Hamilton Rd in which we will make a right down the descent until Alum Rock Ave which will be where our cars are located.

The route link above allows you to preview the route to judge the level of the ride. We look at this route as a 90% very flat route where the last 10% is climbing and descending. All the climbs are gradual but has some sections that pitch up to 7-8%. Paceline rides “leaves no one behind.” Everyone will be patient and encouraging to make sure that we all finish this route.

WHAT TO BRING: The typical bike, helmet, snacks & water. Even though summer is ending, that doesn’t mean that the heat is gone. So please bring plenty of water and and snacks as you feel is necessary.

FOCUS: Stay in Step with God
